*FRIEND OF GOD*
Mon02Aug2021 - *A new creation in Christ* - _Luke 22:21-23_ - A BETRAYER OF CHRIST (02) - _Galatians 6:12-16_
The Lord’s eyes are upon us and we are to walk before the Lord, in His light.
_Luke 22:21 But behold, the hand of My betrayer is with Me on the table._
The question that we are addressing is, “Have I become a betrayer of Christ?”. We are looking deeply into our own hearts, for the Lord sees us completely and nothing is hidden from His sight.
_Matthew 7:15-20 “*Beware of false prophets*, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. (16) You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? (17) Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. (18) A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. (19) Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. (20) *Therefore by their fruits you will know them*._
We need to check if we are bearing fruit. It is not so much as to find out who are the false prophets amidst us but to look deeply within to see if I have become a false prophet.
Am I pretending to be a sheep but inwardly am I a ravenous wolf?
The answer to this question is about whether we are bearing fruit. *Fruit-bearing is about being a blessing to others by living out the character of Jesus from within us*. His nature, character, essence and fragrance must be manifested in us. The marks of Christ must be revealed in us.
_II Peter 2:20-22 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. (21) For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, *than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them*. (22) But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: "A DOG RETURNS TO HIS OWN VOMIT," and, "a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire."_
This is the terrible end that can happen to any of us, who have come to the Lord, experienced righteousness which is by faith and yet has gone back to the ways of the flesh.
If you are in this state, please repent and return to the Lord, for He will restore you.
Here are specific reasons that cause people to betray Christ.
_Jude 1:11-13 Woe to them! For they have *gone in the way of Cain*, have *run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit*, and perished in the *rebellion of Korah*. (12) These are spots in your love feasts, while they feast with you without fear, serving only themselves. They are clouds without water, carried about by the winds; late autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, pulled up by the roots; (13) raging waves of the sea, foaming up their own shame; wandering stars for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever._
Jude uses strong and powerful imagery to share his feelings about those who are betrayers of Christ.
The only person, whom we can analyse and scrutinise, is ourselves. Have I fallen into any of the issues that Jude is talking about? We must have the heart of contriteness and brokenness to let the Holy Spirit heal us.
_Philippians 3:18-19 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: (19) whose end is destruction, *whose god is their belly*, and *whose glory is in their shame*—*who set their mind on earthly things*._
Have we fallen into any of the issues, Paul is talking of here? If so, we have become enemies of the cross of Christ. We have become betrayers of Christ.
If our life is all about the things on earth. Our fulfilment, our satisfaction and our comforts in life have become our end goal, then we are betrayers of Christ.
_Galatians 6:12-16 As many *as desire to make a good showing in the flesh*, these would compel you to be circumcised, only that they may not suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. (13) For not even those who are circumcised keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh. (14) But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. (15) *For in Christ Jesus* neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but *a new creation*. (16) And as many as walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God._
In the end times, people will be afraid to take a stand for Jesus. There will be plenty of compromises all around. We will be compelled to be inclusive and not stake our exclusivity to Jesus Christ. We will be pushed to be reliant on the flesh and not be led by the Holy Spirit.
When these are our behaviour then we are enemies of the cross of Christ and are betrayers of Christ.
Let us decide to be a new creation in Jesus.
*Thought to ponder*
```A new creation in Jesus is one to whom Jesus is all in all.```
