THE PRAYER OF HIS CHURCH
23 β 28Feb2023 β *Full of His Holy Spirit* - _Acts 04:23-31_ - THE PRAYER OF HIS CHURCH - Bible reading: _Ephesians 03:16-19_
βLord Jesus, fill us with Your Holy Spirit that we will always be bold for You. In Your name, we pray. Amen.β
*_Act 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness._*
As the church prayed, the Lord manifested Himself in a powerful way. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit. We would have noted that the filling of the Holy Spirit was a repeated experience for His church.
Here we are seeing that the church was filled with His Holy Spirit and the evidence of the filling of His Holy Spirit was the boldness to speak the word of God.
The Lord had specifically told His disciples to tarry in Jerusalem to be filled with His Holy Spirit. *_Luk 24:49 Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high."_*
In Acts 2, when we see the filling of the Holy Spirit, it was the beginning of the life of His church. This was what the Lord had told would take place. _Act 1:4-5 And being assembled together with them, *He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, "you have heard from Me; (5) for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now*."_
When Peter spoke to the elders, it was because he was filled with the Holy Spirit. The evidence was not only boldness but also articulation, wisdom and love. I say love because all witnessing is out of love for people that they should be reconciled with God. Even when people were confronted with their wickedness, it was out of love. *_Acts 4:8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders of Israel:_*
Being filled with the Holy Spirit was not only a special experience but being filled with His Holy Spirit was also a continuous experience. People could be identified as those who were full of His Spirit. _Acts 6:3 Therefore, brethren, *seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom*, whom we may appoint over this business;_
Stephen was full of the Holy Spirit even at his death. _Acts 7:55 But *he, being full of the Holy Spirit*, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God,_
Barnabas was full of the Holy Spirit and faith. _Acts 11:24 For *he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith*. And a great many people were added to the Lord._
Being full of the Holy Spirit enabled Paul to identify a wicked man and put an end to his evil agenda. _Acts 13:9-11 Then Saul, who also is called *Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him (10) and said, "O full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord? (11) And now, indeed, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a time." And immediately a dark mist fell on him, and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand*._
To be filled with His Holy Spirit is a blessing for His church. _Ephesians 3:16-19 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, *to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man*, (17) that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, (18) may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and heightβ (19) to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; *that you may be filled with all the fullness of God*._
Here we see that the church specifically needed boldness to speak His word. We too are going through a similar situation of persecution and therefore we too need the fullness of His Holy Spirit to speak Godβs word with boldness.
Yet, let us always keep in mind that we need to be always full of His Holy Spirit. As we have seen all the examples, we need the fullness of His Holy Spirit at all times, on all occasions.
The threats of those who are against us are real. Our opponents are able to carry out their threats. Their threat may only be a threat or it could also be a threat that they execute. ```Whatever it may be, our response in all situations is boldness because we are full of His Holy Spirit.```
