*FRIEND OF GOD*
Thu26Aug2021 - *Sanctified to be judges with God* - _Luke 22:28-30_ - IN HIS KINGDOM (07) – Bible reading: _Revelation 2:26-27_
We have a great calling and task that awaits us, which is to be judges alongside the Lord. It is crucial for us to be prepared and ready for this work that is awaiting us.
_Luke 22:28-30 “But you are those who have continued with Me in My trials. (29) And *I bestow upon you a kingdom*, just as My Father bestowed one upon Me, (30) that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and *sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel*."_
_I Corinthians 6:2-3 Do you not know that *the saints will judge the world*? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? (3) Do you not know that *we shall judge angels*? How much more, things that pertain to this life?_
It is very interesting to note, that most often what we hear is that we will be worshipping and praising God in eternity.
It is true that we will be worshipping and praising the Lord in eternity but friends, *let us realise that we have much responsibility and plentiful work to do in His eternal kingdom*.
We will have responsibilities of governance and judgement that we will be executing in God’s kingdom. Eternity will not be a time of languidly, floating around with nothing much to do. Eternity is going to be hard but joyful work, for we will be in the presence of the Lord as those governing alongside Him.
Let me add here that our time here on earth is the dress rehearsal for the main event, which is eternity. We, therefore, need to make the best out of the time and opportunities of life that we have here to gain experience in governing and judging for that is what we will be doing in eternity.
Apostle Paul was strongly reprimanding the church in Corinth for their fleshly ways. He was angry with them for the squabbles and wrongful actions that were being done by the believers, against each other. They were taking one another to the public courts, before unbelievers for judgement. Paul was deeply ashamed.
This is not strange to us. Isn’t this the regular narrative that we encounter in our churches? How shameful?
It is in this context that Paul is showing the church the high calling to which we have been called.
_I Corinthians 6:7-11 Now therefore, *it is already an utter failure for you that you go to law against one another*. Why do you not rather accept wrong? Why do you not rather let yourselves be cheated? (8) No, you yourselves do wrong and cheat, and you do these things to your brethren! (9) Do you not know that *the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God*? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, (10) nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. (11) And such were some of you. But *you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God*._
The word of God makes it clear to us that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God. Paul is not saying this to the world. He is writing to the church and *it is to the church that he is saying that those who continue in any form of unrighteousness, will not inherit the kingdom of God, let alone being judges with God*.
Friends, we need to see ourselves in the light of God’s word. We have been washed, sanctified and justified by Jesus and by His Spirit. We cannot go back to the mire from which we have been pulled out.
*If we continue to live a life in the flesh while claiming to be believers, let us be clear, we will not inherit the kingdom of God*.
It is important to give ourselves to holiness. The Holy Spirit is our friend and He is our enabler. As we encounter temptations and tests in our flesh, let us not battle them in our own sincere effort, for all of our commitments, resolutions and determinations will fail, *only those led by the Holy Spirit will overcome the works of the flesh*.
_Galatians 5:16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh._ _Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you._
Those who overcome will be judges with God.
_Revelation 3:21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne._
*The overcomers are those who keep God’s works until the end*, they will be judges with God.
_Revelation 2:26-27 And *he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations*— (27) ‘HE SHALL RULE THEM WITH A ROD OF IRON; THEY SHALL BE DASHED TO PIECES LIKE THE POTTER'S VESSELS'— as I also have received from My Father;_
Let us live the overcoming life for it is the Holy Spirit who enables us to be overcomers.

```We are not, sufficiently, teaching our people to live the victorious Christian life. Is it because we have all reduced ourselves to a life of defeat?```
