Eternal life in Christ
Acts 17 - Series 02/Episode 14 - Thu 22nd Oct 2026 - Eternal life in Christ - Acts 17:10-15 - MINISTRY IN BEREA - John 11:25-26
Acts 17:11-12 These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. (12) Therefore many of them believed, and also not a few of the Greeks, prominent women as well as men.
John 5:39 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. Eternal life is in knowing Jesus. John 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. / I John 5:11-12 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. (12) He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. The Scriptures reveal Jesus to us. Luke 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.
It is in knowing God that we have eternal life. Jeremiah 9:23 -24 Thus says the LORD: "Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; (24) But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the LORD, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight," says the LORD.
We are pursuing to know God. This is all that matters for us; the rest is given to us by God. Hosea 6:3 Let us know, Let us pursue the knowledge of the LORD. His going forth is established as the morning; He will come to us like the rain, Like the latter and former rain to the earth.
When we speak of eternal life, we continue to know Him. This pursuit begins now and continues to eternity. Hebrews 8:10-12 FOR THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS IN THEIR MIND AND WRITE THEM ON THEIR HEARTS; AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE. (11) NONE OF THEM SHALL TEACH HIS NEIGHBOR, AND NONE HIS BROTHER, SAYING, 'KNOW THE LORD,' FOR ALL SHALL KNOW ME, FROM THE LEAST OF THEM TO THE GREATEST OF THEM. (12) FOR I WILL BE MERCIFUL TO THEIR UNRIGHTEOUSNESS, AND THEIR SINS AND THEIR LAWLESS DEEDS I WILL REMEMBER NO MORE."
In the presence of God there is fullness of joy. Psalm 16:11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Even as we go through trials in life, when we are in the presence of the Lord, we will experience fullness of joy. We are being made complete in Christ. James 1:2-4 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, (3) knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. (4) But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
I Peter 1:6-8 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, (7) that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, (8) whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, The trials of life are purifying our faith in Him. Our joy in Him is inexpressible. These are expressions of eternal life.
This eternal life in Jesus is not only for this life but also for the life which is to come. I Corinthians 15:19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. In Adam's sin, we all died, but in Christ, we are all made alive for eternity. I Corinthians 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. / John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. (26) And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?"
Adam became a living being, but in Christ we receive life from being dead in sin. I Corinthians 15:45 And so it is written, "THE FIRST MAN ADAM BECAME A LIVING BEING." The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. In Christ the mortal becomes immortal. I Corinthians 15:53-54 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. (54) So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP IN VICTORY."
Scriptures testify to us of eternal life in Christ.
