(Welcome to my website: valentinedavidar.in)

Acts 16:35-40 And when it was day, the magistrates sent the officers, saying, "Let those men go." (36) So the keeper of the prison reported these words to Paul, saying, "The magistrates have sent to let you go. Now therefore depart, and go in peace." (37) But Paul said to them, "They have beaten us openly, uncondemned Romans, and have thrown us into prison. And now do they put us out secretly? No indeed! Let them come themselves and get us out." (38) And the officers told these words to the magistrates, and they were afraid when they heard that they were Romans. (39) Then they came and pleaded with them and brought them out, and asked them to depart from the city. (40) So they went out of the prison and entered the house of Lydia; and when they had seen the brethren, they encouraged them and departed.

The magistrates, officers, and even the jailor, were afraid when they heard that Paul and Silas were Romans. The jailor knew Paul and Silas as brothers in Christ, but at the same time, his official position made him realise the significance of their being Roman citizens. The executors of punishment were now the ones receiving the punishment.

When the church stands on her God‑given authority, the powers of darkness are afraid Satan fears the believer who knows and exercises God's kingdom authority.

The devil is afraid when the church executes the authority of God over the powers of darkness and over the world. Luke 10:18-19 And He said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. (19) Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. / Psalms 91:13-14 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. (14) "Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.

The high position of Jesus over all rule and authority has been given to the church. The church fills out and executes the kingdom rule of God on the earth. Ephesians 1:18-23 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, (19) and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power (20) which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, (21) far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. (22) And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, (23) which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

This high position for the church was procured for us by Jesus by saving us by grace through faith. He has now seated us with Him in the heavenly places to bring His rule on earth and also in the age which is to come. Ephesians 2:4-7 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, (5) even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), (6) and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, (7) that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

This is the revealed mystery of the eternal plan of God. Ephesians 3:9-11 and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; (10) to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, (11) according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord,

To some extent we can now understand why Jesus was crucified for us even before the foundation of the earth. I Peter 1:18-21 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, (19) but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. (20) He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you (21) who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

Learning: The devil trembles when the church exercises her authority in Christ for His kingdom.
